I am a scientist

We have been learning to think like scientists this term. Learning all about plants has helped us to become scientists. We have been asking lots of questions and trying to answer them. We found out that plants breathe and drink water. We found the best way to germinate a seed – seeds need water to germinate but the plant needs water, soil and sun to grow well.

Reflection

I really like: growing our own plants, it's so cool!

I think I need to practice: sitting still when Kerri is teaching us so that I know what we are doing and how to do it.

Something that really helped me was: having real plants to look at and touch.

We started by singing the ‘colours’ song on our blog…

The colours song

Then in buddy time we shared the big book T-shirts. We thought we could use this book as inspiration for our learning so we made collage T-shirts. Rosie taught us how to say “This is my blue T-shirt” in Te Reo.

Success Criteria

ü  For the collage:

o   Small pieces of paper, the same colour

o   The white paper is all covered

o   Flappy edges glued down

ü  We know at least 4 colours in Te Reo

ü  We can say the colours correctly

Reflection

I really like: to sing the colour song because I love singing.

I think I need to practice: listening to my buddy when he was helping me make the t-shirt.

Something that really helped me was: singing the colour song in Te Reo lots and lots and lots.

Making Predicitions

WALT: make predictions about what I read

Task

Create a ‘movenote’ or a show me on the ipad to share your learning. Take a photo of the book you are reading and record your predicitons about the story. Then record yourself reading a page or 2. Were your predicitons correct? Did you have to change them as you read?

Remember to show your learning, check the success criteria… Have you reached your goal?

I really like: having a guess about what the book might be about because it helps your learning and makes you use your brain.

I think I need to practice: remembering to stop reading at the full stops.

Excellence is all bout keeping on going when the learning is tricky and about not giving up. You show excellence in your play and in your talk, encourging and including others. Remember when something is tricky, or you are not sure what to do, don't give up! Keep on going or maybe find somebody to work with so you can share the learning. I think this will help you a lot especially in maths.
